Recently, Fully-Depleted Silicon on Insulator (FD-SOI) MOSFETs have been accepted as a favourable technology beyond nanometer nodes, and the technique of Recessed-Source/Drain (Re-S/D) has made it more immune in regards of various performance factors. However, the proper selection of Buried-Oxide (BOX) thickness is one of the major challenges in the design of FD-SOI based MOS devices in order to suppress the drain electric penetrations across the BOX interface efficiently. In this work, the effect of BOX thickness on the performance of TMG Re-S/D FD-SOI MOSFET has been presented at 60 nm gate length. The perspective of BOX thickness variation has been analysed on the basis of its surface potential profile and the extraction of the threshold voltage by performing two-dimensional numerical simulations. Moreover, to verify the short channel immunity, the impact of gate length scaling has also been discussed. It is found that the device attains two step-up potential profile with suppressed short channel effects. The outcomes reveal that the Drain Induced Barrier Lowering (DIBL) values are lower among conventional SOI MOSFETs. The device has been designed and simulated by using 2D numerical ATLAS Silvaco TCAD simulator

Modulation of Gi Proteins in Hypertension: Role of Angiotensin II and Oxidative Stress

Guanine nucleotide regulatory proteins (G-proteins) play a key role in the regulation of various signal transduction systems including adenylyl cyclase/cAMP and phospholipase C (PLC)/phosphatidyl inositol turnover (PI). These are implicated in the modulation of a variety of physiological functions such as platelet functions, cardiovascular functions, including arterial tone and reactivity. Several abnormalities in adenylyl cyclase activity, cAMP levels and G proteins have shown to be responsible for the altered cardiac performance and vascular functions observed in cardiovascular disease states. The enhanced or unaltered levels of inhibitory G-proteins (Giα-2 and Giα-3) and mRNA have been reported in different models of hypertension, whereas Gsα levels were shown to be unaltered. These changes in G-protein expression were associated with Gi functions. The enhanced levels of Giα proteins precede the development of blood pressure and suggest that overexpression of Gi proteins may be one of the contributing factors for the pathogenesis of hypertension. The augmented levels of vasoactive peptides, including angiotensin II (AngII), were shown to contribute to enhanced expression of Giα proteins and associated adenylyl cyclase signaling and thereby increased blood pressure. In addition, enhanced oxidative stress in hypertension due to Ang II may also be responsible for the enhanced expression of Giα proteins observed in hypertension. The mechanism by which oxidative stress enhances the expression of Gi proteins appears to be through the activation of mitogen activated protein (MAP) kinase activity

Physiological traits of wheat genotypes and their trait relation to drought conditions are important to identify the genotype in target environments. Thus, genotype selection should be based on multiple physiological traits in variable environments within the target region. This study was conducted at Punjab Agricultural University during rabi crop seasons 2012-13 and 2013-14 to study the recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of wheat genotypes derived from traditional landraces and modern cultivars (C518/2*PBW343) based on various morpho-physiological traits. A total of 175 RILs were selected for this study based on various tolerance indices. The genotype by trait (GT) biplot analysis was applied to data from seven high-yielding RILs grown under irrigated (E1) and rainfed environments (E2). The GGE biplot explained 100% of the total variation for chlorophyll content, grain filling period, peduncle length, water-soluble carbohydrates, grain number, grain yield, and 95.1% for canopy temperature, 94.9% for thousand-grain weight. GT-biplots indicated that the relationships among the studied traits were not consistent across environments, but they facilitated visual genotype comparisons and selection in each environment. RIL 84 and RIL108 were close to the average environment (ideal genotype) for all traits studied except chlorophyll content. A well-performing genotype with great environmental stability is called an "ideal genotype. Among all entries, these genotypes performed well. Therefore, among the traits studied, grain filling period, peduncle length, canopy temperature, water soluble carbohydrates, and 1000 grain weight contributed to grain yield under a stress environment. Furthermore, it may be used as a donor material in breeding programs and QTLs mapping

Solar cells are p-i-n photodiodes, which are operated under forward bias. The intention is to convert the incoming optical power into electrical power with maximum efficiency. In this paper we are going to design a solar cell and simulation of solar cell using the Silvaco TCAD tools. Silvaco TCAD refers to Technology Computer-Aided Design. This means that computer simulations are used to develop and optimize semiconductor processing technologies and devices. As TCAD simulations solve fundamental, physical partial differential equations, such as Poisson, Diffusion and Transport equations in a semiconductor device. This deep physical approach gives TCAD simulation predictive accuracy. It is therefore possible to substitute TCAD simulations for costly and time-consuming test wafer runs when developing and characterizing a new semiconductor device or technology.
